Distributed development is a development model whereby team members work from different geographical locations. They communicate through email, IRC or other tools. Some of the main benefits are having staff available for various timezones meaning they are available when your office based staff would otherwise be unavailable; Reduction of costs as you are not responsible for power, water, location; and being able to source the best in the world in talent as opposed to those that are available local to your office.
